Resort Summary
Bremer Island, Banubanu Beach Retreat is located in Australia's North East Arnhem Land and is 15 kilometres north of the town of Nhulunbuy. The island is approximately 8 kms long by 3 kms wide with the resort located on the Northern tip of the island.
The resort’s five acre lease from the Northern Land Council was granted for 25 years and ends in 2039 (an extension can be negotiated ).
There is an established relationship with the traditional owners who reside on the island at their small community and they assist us in some of our tours such as cultural and traditional crabbing.
The island is surrounded by many other small uninhabited islands which are nesting areas for many different species of sea birds, and including our main island where there are a total of 65 bird species been sighted.
During the whole year there are many turtles nesting on our beaches, there are four varieties being Hawksbill, Olive Ridley, Greens and Flat-backs.
The fishing is this area is world class with many blue water species including marlin, there is also an abundance of bottom fishing which you can choose from. We have a NT Fishing Tour Operators License and use the 7.4 metre for our fishing charters.
We have also run land based fly fishing tours around the island.
Getting to the island is either a 15 minute flight from Gove airport or a 40 minute boat ride from Gove harbour.
Airnorth does daily trips to Gove from both Cairns and Darwin.
Bremer Island has a good climate that could best be described as 'Dry Tropics'. The average daily maximum temperature ranges from 24 degrees Celsius in June to 35 degrees Celsius in December.
This venture was established 17 years ago by the original lease owners who now have only just made the decision to reluctantly sell this iconic NT resort.
East Arnhem Land is having a tourism boom, Banubanu is a centre piece attraction in the region, and therefore an amazing opportunity for the right buyer, with additional capital to bring the resort to the next level for a brilliant future .
